Harrogate Home & Gift Buyers Festival
We like Harrogate, it's a fabulous spa town in North Yorkshire, and as we needed to find new stock for the shop, you know the stuff we like, quirky and a bit different (and we know you do too), we needed no further excuses. So, Mr No96 and I headed off one afternoon for a long weekend of shopping. The usual Friday traffic overload aside, we arrived in Harrogate in time for dinner and a look over the list of suppliers attending the show to see what delights were in store for us.
As a small business it's hard to get away from the shop we don't get out much (sad but true) we decided to treat ourselves to the Saturday browsing the shopping, sampling the great restaurants, choosing a few things for our home before 2 days trawling the festival. It was lovely - we can recommend Harrogate!
We were on the look out for new ranges of gifts, jewellery, ceramics, and home furnishings with a few Christmas lines thrown too (can you believe it, that's the earliest I have ever done Christmas shopping!). The festival was much bigger than we thought, with about 12 separate halls. The weather was fabulous, the facilities were great and even some good food on site (way better than the London fare), with a drinks reception on the Sunday evening too which was a nice touch.
We spent the first day taking in everything, chatting and browsing, shortlisting the products we liked, bumping into suppliers we already know, stock you are already familiar with and getting a feel for new goodies. The next morning we set off to the Great British Exchange, which is also in Harrogate - we will tell you more about them in later blog, where we found some more great things including doggie treats that we are seriousy considering stocking (we love our four legged friends @No 96)
Then, what was to be the final day back to the Home and Gift festival to start placing some orders, which is always the exciting, yet nerve wracking part- will you love the the things we love? We soon realised that we were going to run out of time, so we hastily booked an extension of our stay, not easy in a town already full of festival buyers, but thankfully we managed to grab the last room at a hotel right on the doorstep. Back again the next morning following a hearty breakfast, to complete the spending spree. We like to think we have chosen a great selection of loveliness, an eclectic mix perhaps, but hopefully there will be something for everyone. I really hope we are right, but time will tell, and we will introduce each supplier on this blog in turn over the next few weeks.......but here's a sneak peek....
